5 Most Common Car Accident Injuries

Car accidents are among the most common causes of injury in Florida.  We are heavily populated, with busy highways and overloaded city streets that only become more crowded during the winter months. Due to the COVID situation in many states, realtors are reporting that we are seeing a non-stop influx of new people as well – only adding to the likelihood of accidents on the road.

Unlike the visible damage to your car, the damage done to the human body after a traumatic impact is not necessarily immediately evident.

5 Most Common Injuries from Automobile Accidents

Car collisions involve  significant force being applied very rapidly and unexpectedly. The human inside the car is often forced into damaging positions, breaking bones and causing the body to bend and twist in ways it was never designed to do.  Here are the most common injuries to keep an eye out for:

1. Contusions: You may think that your car accident was too minor to cause any damage. But suddenly being thrown against a seat belt, or your hand bracing against the dashboard can cause contusions or bruising. These are rarely serious, and typically fade after several days. If you have a bruise that seems to linger too long, is growing in size, or is causing pain, you may wish to consult a doctor.

2. Broken Bones : The impact of a collision can cause extreme stress to your skeleton, and it may not be able to absorb the impact. Broken bones, such as broken wrists and broken ribs, are very common injuries after a car accident but are typically non-life threatening.  Depending on the type of break, you may require surgery, casts and settings – and plenty of rest – in order to recover.

3. Whiplash/Neck and Back Injuries: When a car accident occurs, your body often moves in unexpected directions at dangerous speeds. This  can cause pain and discomfort in your neck, most often diagnosed as whiplash. The strains to your muscles and ligaments are painful and can take weeks to overcome. The force of the collision may also causeherniations or ruptures of the discs in your spine. These injuries are far more serious than any of the others we have discussed, and can significantly impact your quality of life. These injuries may not be permanent, but will require time and attention to heal properly.  A chiropractor is a strong ally when fixing the damage dome to your neck.

4. Head Injuries and Concussions:  Depending on the speed and force of impact, your head may hit part of the interior of your car. You may think at first that you have only a bump or bruise, but afterwards may begin to experience headaches, blurred vision, even memory loss. Prompt treatment for any head injury, even if you don’t think it seems serious at the time, is very important.  Traumatic brain injuries can occur, and these can have permanent and life-altering effects. Recovery from TBIs is possible to a degree, but you may experience loss of focus and memory, uncontrollable emotions, or mobility issues for life.

5. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) :
Our minds and bodies are designed to absorb a certain amount of shock, but the severe stress which can occur due to a car accident can affect both long-term. PTSD can cause lingering fear, aversion to certain activities, sounds or situations, sleep issues and nightmares, and in serious cases may cause a complete refusal to drive again.

Natural Headache Remedies

Headaches seem to be a fact of life for most adults. Whether dealing with work stress, too little sleep, bad diets, or troublesome people – there are many triggers for headaches and worse, migraines. Most people turn to over the counter pain treatments to try to stave off the pain, and many find that prescription medications are necessary.

But these days, many people are searching for homeopathic and natural remedies for all of their ailments, not just headaches. Here are some ideas for how to get pain-free without taking any possibly addictive and harmful drugs – or at least greatly alleviate and relieve your suffering.

Managing Your Headaches Without Drugs

Regular headaches cause stiffness in the neck, shoulder and scalp; while migraines typically involve throbbing pain on one side of the head (and can also include auras, nausea or blurred vision).

If you are prone to headaches, you can start by avoiding those substances which are most commonly associated with the onset of pain. These include:

* MSG (monosodium glutamate)
* Excess alcohol or caffeine
* aspartame in artificially sweetened food
* phenylethylamine found in some chocolate and cheese
* tyramine found in fermented meats and soy

A drop in blood sugar can trigger a headache, so eating healthy food may help. Dehydration is also a common culprit, so be sure to drink plenty of water.

Tech Tip: If you start feeling the beginning of a headache, you should avoid your phone, laptop and TV.

More Tips to Avoid Headaches

  1. Ginger is one of the most common home remedies for headache pain. It reduces inflammation of blood vessels, relieving the pain. Ginger also aids digestion, and can help to alleviate nausea. You can make tea from ginger root, or mix ginger and lemon juice. Finally, you can make ginger paste to apply directly to the forehead. Cloves can also be used to combat a throbbing headache. Crush a few cloves and put them in a cloth or sachet. Breathe deeply until the pain begins to ease. Adding crushed cloves to coconut oil can also make a topical treatment.
  2. eppermint oil contains menthol, which can help to regulate and open blood vessels which have become clogged and are causing pain.  Peppermint oil can be added to almond oil and used directly on the skin to massage the pain; or peppermint can be used to make herbal tea. Lavender oil is also wonderful for easing the pain of headaches. Inhaling the scent directly can be beneficial, and it can be added to boiling water to make healing steam. Lavender oil should not be ingested, but can be added to olive oil and applied directly to your forehead or temples. Thyme or rosemary essential oils have similar healing properties.
  3. Cinnamon paste can be applied directly to the forehead and temples as well. Mix cinnamon powder with water, make a paste and rub into your forehead before laying down and resting. Basil leaves can make a strong and potent tea which will help to relax muscles, ease tension and relieve pain.
  4. Stretching and basic exercise can help to reduce the severity of your headache. Move your chin up, down, left and right, or bend your neck towards either shoulder. Rotate your neck in both directions to relax your shoulder and neck. Yoga exercises can also help to keep your body relaxed and tension free, and deep breathing will also help to relieve the pain.
  5. Ice packs can be used to combat migraines, and when applied to the back of the neck can reduce inflammation and numb pain. Soaking your feet in hot water can cure a headache, but when the pain is stubborn, add hot mustard powder to the water.
  6. Apples and apple cider vinegar can help to restore a patient’s acid-alkaline balance. Inhaling the steam of apple cider vinegar boiled in water can do wonders for sinus headaches. Eating an apple sprinkled with salt will help if you woke up with a headache= just be sure to drink some warm water as well.

Finally, regular chiropractic treatments may be the best natural treatment you can employ to keep headaches at bay. Spinal manipulation will ease pressure, relax muscles, and align the vertebrae – all of which can help to avoid the onset of spinal-related headaches.

Sleeping Position & Chiropractic Health

It is no secret that many chiropractic complaints are a direct result of being in adverse positions – that is, the way we hold or carry our body during our daily life. Factors such as posture and sleep position can have a long term effect on our overall health, as detrimental positions in these areas can cause spinal issues, headaches, pain in our extremities, and more.

Musculoskeletal symptoms often appear at night, which is the time set aside by nature for your body to heal. When bad sleep posture causes a reduction in blood flow, compresses tissues or causes inflammation, your sleep is actually hurting, not healing you. Modifying how you sleep can actually help to heal your body, not hinder it. Here are some of the more common issues which can be aggravated by sleeping position, with some expert advice on how to help alleviate the problem.

How Sleeping Position Aggravates Certain Conditions

Rotator Cuff Syndrome: Rotator cuffs are muscles and tendons that surround the shoulder joint, which could get  injured by overuse, shoulder injury, or diseases such as arthritis. The patient typically experiences pain in the shoulder joint, especially affecting range of motion. People with rotator cuff syndrome may see their symptoms worsen if they tend to sleep with their arms in an overhead position. In fact, the rotator cuff injury may be caused by sleeping in this manner. Patients should sleep with the affected side up, and place a pillow between the arm and the body to minimize the effect of the impingement.

Neck Pain: Adverse sleep positions may create or worsen cervical (neck) dysfunction. Neck pain is most commonly associated with shoulder impingement from the side-lying sleeping posture. Pillow height can also cause compression or stretching of the neck structure, causing pain. Thin pillows typically are associated with degenerative conditions caused by excessive extension or flexion of the spine. Thicker pillows can adversely affect disc lesions. Therefore the choice of your pillow can greatly affect your overall health and wellness. You’ll want a pillow that permits the neck to stay in a neutral position; usually a feather or fiberfill variety is best.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Sleeping in a fetal position can cause the wrist to be in the same position for long periods of time. This prolonged wrist flexion can cause compressive ischemia (lack of proper blood flow) to the median nerve. Cubital tunnel syndrome results in traction ischemia to the ulnar nerve. Sleeping with a night splint can help prevent hyper-flexion of the wrist by reducing nerve compression. Avoid a splint which is too tight, which can cause other compression issues.

Tennis Elbow:  An acute injury can be aggravated – and healing delayed – when the patient sleeps in the wrong position. For those with tennis elbow, a painful condition of the tendons caused by overuse of the elbow, sleeping with the affected elbow beneath a pillow can cause such aggravation. Instead, keep the affected arm at your side while sleeping, which should reduce lateral elbow pain.

Gluteal Tendinopathy: Gluteal tendon pain increases with any activity or exercise that involves sustained or repetitive compression, which includes sleeping. Sleeping on one’s side compresses the lateral hip, resulting in poor blood flow and reduced capacity for healing.   Turning over will not alleviate the problem, however, unless you put a pillow under your knee. The best solution is to sleep on one’s back. If that is not possible, try a pillow between the knees, an eggshell mattress topper, or lighter blankets that will not press down on your body.

Regardless of how the pain originates, no one wants to live with neck, back, gluteal or hip pain. While applying these simple solutions may help, you should also call a chiropractor for further assessment and care. West Coast Wellness is here to help with any pain you may be experiencing, whether from a traumatic car accident, or a bad night’s sleep.

How Car Accident Injuries Respond to Chiropractic Care

Car accidents happen on a daily basis. In fact, according to statistics, there are approximately 1,000 car accidents in Florida every day – and 165,000 of those accidents result in injuries annually. No one leaves their home planning on being injured, and the very nature of car accidents can be traumatic. No matter if you are an office worker, a mom, or a star athlete, car accident injuries can happen to you.

So if you are suddenly facing pain, discomfort or lack of mobility due to a car accident what should you do?

Injuries after a car accident can run from very mild to life changing. Often, those who have experienced a car accident don’t realize that they are injured for several days or even weeks. But these creeping injuries, the ones that are not evident immediately, can cause some of the most long term damage. This is where chiropractic care can become so relevant and important to the accident victim’s long-term health.

Chronic injuries that react well to chiropractic care typically arise from work-related accidents, sports injuries or car accidents.

Work injuries cover a broad spectrum of acute and chronic conditions, but the two utmost common are back issues caused by excessive sitting and carpal tunnel syndrome. Both of these injuries respond well to chiropractic treatment. Even small sports injuries like sprains or strains can become nagging problems that affect performance. Chiropractors can intervene early to address swelling and pain.

When it comes to auto accidents, the main culprit of pain and suffering is often whiplash, which occurs when the patient’s head “whips” forward and backward rapidly due to sudden jarring or an unexpected stop.  This soft tissue injury and other spinal injuries caused by car accidents react well to spinal manipulation and alignment techniques. Once injured, those living with these types of ailments can easily aggravate them simply by participating in normal daily life – such as improper lifting, poor posture, stress, and even the force of gravity over the course of a lifetime. The damaged discs, strained muscles and effect on the curve of your spine can all be restored with chiropractic care.

The reason why chiropractic care is so effective for these injuries is that it addresses the underlying cause of your pain, which could manifest as headaches, arm or leg pain, or any number of aches and pains throughout your body. Instead of treating the symptom – the specific pain – a chiropractor treated the cause of that symptom, which is typically a problem along the spinal column. By utilizing low stress, restorative techniques, the body is given the capability to heal itself, grow stronger and return to its original state. All of this can often take place without having to undergo major surgery or taking your chances with dangerous prescription medications.

If you experienced a car accident recently, call to set up a chiropractic appointment even if you do not feel pain at the moment. A thorough check of your spine will allow the doctor to determine if you have suffered an injury which could worsen over time. If you are already suffering and need relief, don’t waste anymore time. Call West Coast Wellness and let us show you how well your body can respond to natural and effective chiropractic care.

What Is Range of Motion?

A chiropractic visit is useful for more than just immediate pain relief. When incorporated into your health regimen, chiropractic care emphasizes long-term and sustainable holistic health. Spine alignment and posture health contribute to overall foundational wellness.

There are some instances when calling a chiropractor is an easy decision. When you are in neck or back pain, you want to feel better as soon as possible. After a car accident, it is smart to check to see if your spine is still in alignment. However, you may not associate chiropractic care to experiencing a problem with your range of motion.

What is Range of Motion?

The term “range of motion” is used to measure the flexibility of a patient’s arms, legs, or torso. Not having full range of motion due to pain or injury can affect an individual’s ability to perform everyday tasks and stay balanced.

When a patient presents with acute or chronic injury – such as a slipped disc or sciatic nerve pain – the chiropractor is likely to suggest range of motion exercises. These exercises help restore mobility, flexibility, and strength, which in turn contribute to overall long-term health and wellness.

What is Corrective Chiropractic?

The term corrective chiropractic refers to the incremental restoration of spinal integrity, maintaining balance throughout your system. Through a series of adjustments, the patient’s range of motion is likewise restored. The phases of treatment may include:

  • Correcting spinal imbalance
  • Establishing spinal stability
  • Regaining mobility
  • Reestablishing full range of motion
  • Developing strength
  • Assessing improvement and progress

Achieving a full range of motion will support overall longterm spinal stability. Because each area of the spine is associated with a particular part of the body, your chiropractor can pinpoint where adjustment is needed based upon the specific problem you are experiencing. So whether you can’t turn your neck to one side, or you cannot lift your arm – a spinal adjustment (or series of spinal adjustments) will alleviate the issue.

Ongoing chiropractic care is beneficial for continued spinal health after a patient’s range of motion has been restored. To maintain their range of motion, patients can employ strength exercises, stretches, and postural changes. Other lifestyle changes – such as avoiding sitting for long periods- can help a patient to protect and maximize their flexibility and range of motion.

Chiropractors understand the relationship between spinal health and proper range of motion. Range of motion issues are often the primary indicators of a problem, allowing the chiropractor to fix spinal misalignment and provide relief.

If you are experiencing problems with your range of motion, pain in a specific part of your body, or numbness and tingling in extremities – the chances are excellent that your spine needs attention. Instead of taking a daily regimen of OTC pain medication or suffering in silence, call West Coast Wellness today. After diagnosing your problem, we will begin a series of adjustments to restore your spine, alleviate the pain, and get your life back to normal. If you live in the North Port area, we are here to help. Call today for your consultation.

What Exactly Is a Slipped Disc?

A slipped disc – otherwise known as a herniated, prolapsed, or ruptured disc – refers to a condition in which an injured or degenerated disc is protruding against nearby nerve tissue. Any disc along the spine can become herniated, and although the lower back is most often the site of such an injury, the neck and middle back can also be affected.

Some patients do not experience symptoms from a slipped disc, although some do suffer great pain.

Defining “Discs

Discs are shock-absorbing protective pads found between the vertebrae in the spine. The term “slipped” is a bit misleading, as in reality, discs bulge, split, or rupture. This condition can cause the failure of nearby cartilage and tissue. The gel from inside the disc leaks into the surrounding tissue, subsequently asserting pressure on the spinal cord or nerves. Weakness, numbness, or pain can appear in the immediate area, or along the path the affected nerve travels.

Pain which occurs along the nerve is known as referred pain. The pain travels from the bones of the spine to another part of the body, such as an arm or leg.

What are the Symptoms of Slipped Discs?

The general symptoms of herniated discs include:

  • Neck or back pain that limits the range of motion or activity
  • Pain, numbness or weakness lasts several days
  • Chest or abdominal pain, fever or bladder issues

Herniated or slipped disc in the neck: Symptoms include numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain in the shoulder, neck, arm, or hand. The movement of the neck can result in increased or decreased symptoms.

Herniated or slipped disc in the back: Symptoms include pain which runs down the back of each leg, known as sciatica; numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain in the buttocks, back, legs, or feet; pain with movement, straining or coughing; or difficulty with bowel or bladder function.

While surgery may be required for severe situations, most slipped or herniated disks can be treated with ice packs, physical therapy, massage, exercise, and chiropractic care.

What Causes a Herniated Disc?

The aging process can lead to slipped discs, as degeneration and loss of elasticity is a significant risk factor.

However, younger people can suffer slipped or herniated discs with the improper lifting of heavy objects, twisting or turning in the wrong way, or with excessive strenuous activities. Sudden acute trauma, such as from a car accident, is considered a low risk for this type of injury.

Chiropractic Treatment for a Slipped Disc

If you come to a chiropractor for treatment, this is what you can expect.

After going through your medical history, a physical and neurological exam is likely. The chiropractor will be looking to see if your reflexes are intact, if these are signs of muscle wasting or loss of muscle strength, and if there is a loss of sensation along the nerve path. Your chiropractor will also evaluate your posture and may order an Xray or MRI for further diagnostic purposes.

The difference between a chiropractic doctor and other medical professionals is that your DC will examine the entire spine. In other words, even if the pain is in your lower back, the chiropractor will look for signs of trouble from the neck on down. He is looking for overall health (or injury) of the spine, not just treating one small portion of it.

After examining you, taking your x-rays and symptoms into account, your chiropractor will determine if your slipped disc can be treated with chiropractic care or if additional medical treatment is necessary. Still, most disc injuries are related to slipped or herniated discs, and your chiropractor can help you with treatment and pain management options. If you are in pain or experiencing symptoms of a slipped disc, call West Coast Wellness for an appointment.

5 Post Accident Symptoms You Should Never Ignore

Immediately following a car accident, you may not realize that you have been injured. Whether you are in shock or your injury has not manifested yet – symptoms may not appear for hours or even days.

If you were in a car accident but went home feeling fine, you should still be aware of the common post-car accident conditions that may develop. By associating these symptoms with your accident, you should be able to get the necessary chiropractic care to alleviate your pain.

While these are not the only possible injuries to keep an eye out for, these issues are often associated with spinal injuries, which can be treated with chiropractic care.

Headaches

Some of the most commonly occurring car accident symptoms are headaches, which may show up the next morning or weeks later. These headaches have a variety of possible causes.

  • Tension headaches may be caused by anxiety, frustration, or stress – all of which are often present after a car accident. From dealing with insurance companies to covering expenses, tension headaches are given ample opportunities to appear.
  • A concussion should be checked out by a medical professional. In addition to headaches, a concussion may cause vision problems, nausea, light sensitivity, or mood, and appetite changes.
  • Whiplash may present with similar symptoms as a concussion. A sudden forceful impact can strain the muscles and tendons in your neck, although there are other possible injuries, including ligaments, joints, nerves, and discs. When whiplash appears, the pain can be significant, and make normal mobility impossible. Other symptoms of whiplash include dizziness, fatigue, pain in shoulder or neck, headaches and blurred vision, or muscular soreness and stiffness.

Neck or Shoulder Pain

Pain in the neck or shoulders may be caused by tension or anxiety, but can also be the result of nerve or tissue damage, or muscle and joint injuries. Whiplash and concussion may be accompanied by pain in these areas, so be sure to seek care as soon as these symptoms appear.

Back Pain

Back injury can show up after a car accident as an achy feeling, muscle tightness, or general discomfort. Unfortunately, it can also be excruciating and debilitating.

  • Shooting pain down the spine or extremities may indicate a pinched nerve
  • Pain in the lower back and radiating down the leg is likely sciatica. Sciatic pain may be a constant ache or a shooting pain.

Numbness or Tingling Sensation

Numbness or tingling in your neck, shoulder, back, or any extremities may indicate nerve or tissue damage.

Changes in Vision or Hearing

Whether they appear hours later or after several weeks, vision and hearing problems may be associated with your car accident. Double vision, blurred vision, and dizziness could be the result of a concussion, whiplash, or even post-traumatic stress. Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) may also be a result of car accident injuries, but most often will need to run its course, as there are few effective treatments for the problems.

You don’t need to suffer from pain, numbness, tingling sensations, or limited mobility.

The experienced chiropractic professionals at West Coast Wellness are ready to help you find relief and healing. If you or a family member have been in a car accident and are experiencing any of the above symptoms, call today.

We can help to alleviate many of the injuries associated with car accidents or point you to a medical doctor if you need additional treatment.

Florida Car Accident Statistics That Will Shock You

In the state of Florida, traffic accidents comprise the largest grouping of personal injury claims every year.  The 2019 Sarasota County traffic statistics show a relatively steady trend. There were 12,371 reported car crashes in 2019, which is only 150 accidents shy of the 2018 number. Traffic fatalities are relatively scarce, with 46 deaths recorded related to the total number of crashes.

Because West Coast Wellness is the premier chiropractic practice treating car accident victims in North Port, we thought we would share some other interesting car accident statistics.

  • 95% of all vehicles involved in accidents are passenger cars and light trucks such as SUVs.
  • More than half the car accidents represent the 15-44 age group.
  • Teenagers between the ages of 15-19 suffer over 233,000 injuries annually
  • As a result of 6 million annual car accidents, over 2.2 million people suffer permanent injuries; approximately 245,000 of these individuals live in Florida.
  • Seat belts cut the risk of death by 45% and serious injury by 50%, however thousands of people still suffer injury due to seatbelts.

Seat belts keep a driver’s or passenger’s head from hitting the windshield or steering wheel. But although the body is kept in place, the head typically thrusts forward and can cause significant damage to the neck or spine. Seat belts will save your life, but could cause a range of injuries, including:

Each of these statistics represent real individuals who were injured by an accident. That indicates thousands of Sarasota and North Port area residents dealing with lingering aches, pains and trauma that are often the result of a car accident.

If you have been involved in a car accident, it is important that you seek medical help, no matter how you feel. Many injuries do not begin to show symptoms for days, weeks or even months. It is especially important for you to set up an appointment of a chiropractor who can determine if your neck, back or spine has been injured. While a physician can tell you if you have a broken bone, a skilled chiropractor can help to holistically treat the trauma you have experienced so that it does not manifest as a chronic problem down the road. .

Additionally, if you are seen by a Florida chiropractor within 14 days of your accident, your PIP car insurance will cover chiropractic care, and your chiropractor will help you to aggregate the documents and diagnoses that you will need to prove an injury.

Early intervention from a chiropractor can reduce long-term or ongoing medical bills, minimize loss of wages, and improve quality of life going forward.

If you have been in a car accident in the North Port area, make an appointment as soon as is practicable. Even if you have a clean bill of health from the hospital, it’s important to make sure that there is no swelling or inflammation around your vertebrae or discs. Chiropractic adjustments can quickly relieve pressure and put you back into alignment, greatly reducing your chances of developing pain if the trauma goes untreated for too long.

Don’t become a chronic pain statistic. Call West Coast Wellness to discuss how we can put you on the road to total health.

Welcome to West Coast Wellness we offer services such as Auto Injury, Neuropathy, Back Pain, Knee Pain, Whiplash, Pinched Nerve, Ringing in Ears, Why Chiropractic Care?, Shoulder Pain, Neck Pain, Headaches, Spinal Disc Restoration, Electromedicine, Herniated Disc Treatment, Degenerative Disc Disease

Chiropractic Care After An Accident

According to the latest Florida statistics, there are more than 403,000 accidents on our roadways annually. This statistic breaks down to an average of 1,106 accidents per day, and Floridians sustain over 236,000 injuries per year. One of the most frequent accidents suffered in a car accident is whiplash.

What is Whiplash?

Whiplash is a neck sprain or neck strain, caused by abrupt backward and/or forward motion of the head. Although there are other instances when whiplash may occur – such as on an amusement park ride – its most common cause is car accidents. When a patient has suffered whiplash, the joints between vertebrae, discs, ligaments, muscles, or nerve roots may be damaged. Symptoms of whiplash may include neck pain and stiffness, headaches, pain between the shoulder blades, lower back pain, dizziness, numbness of the arm or hand, difficulty remembering, or sleep disturbance and fatigue.

People who have been in a car accident often think they have not been injured, as the symptoms of whiplash can take 24-48 hours to manifest.

If you have visited the emergency room after a car accident, consulting with a chiropractor is still recommended. The ER will often look for broken bones or internal bleeding, but will not necessarily discover misaligned vertebrae or damage to the muscular structure. Any prescribed pain relievers or muscle relaxants will typically mask symptoms for a time, but the pain and discomfort of whiplash will outlast the medications.

Why a Chiropractor is Necessary

Here are some additional reasons to consult a chiropractor experienced in car accident injuries is so important:

1. Chiropractors have seen too many cases to take any car accidents, even a minor one, lightly. We will not dismiss any complaint you have about how you feel and can look specifically for the signs that you have suffered whiplash or a similar injury.

2. Many people ignore the pain for weeks, months – or worse. The longer this type of car accident injury is left untreated, the more scar tissue can form. Eventually, most will seek chiropractic care, but not before needless pain. As you can imagine, the delayed treatment of an injury can cause a more costly and more complicated medical situation.

3. Many people are becoming increasingly averse to using addictive drugs such as opioids to treat pain. Even if addiction is not an issue, many side effects are considered to be unacceptable. The treatment a chiropractor provides is safe and natural and feels great as well. And unlike taking pain medication to deal with or mask the symptoms, a chiropractor will help you to restore your body.

4. For many people, their first exposure to chiropractic care is following an auto accident. However, after treatment, many patients realize that they feel better overall, not just in regards to their injuries. Perhaps an unrelated chronic condition begins to clear up, or you recognize your immunity seems stronger. Whatever the result may be, patients are often surprised at how effective chiropractic treatment is, and opt to continue their care even after the initial treatment plan is complete.

Does Insurance Cover Chiropractic Care?

In the state of Florida, your PIP car insurance covers your treatment up to $10,000. So don’t worry if you don’t have health insurance, or are concerned about paying large hospital bills following your accident. Because Florida is a no-fault state, your own PIP car insurance covers your injuries up to $10,000.

Don’t let the fear of the cost stop you from seeking the best possible treatment for your traumatic neck or back injury. At West Coast Wellness, you’ll find the caring medical professionals, state of the art equipment and latest methodologies to treat your injury efficiently. Call today for a free consultation.
